Restriction in food = freedom in life

Andrew Taylor - Spud Fit | May 6, 2021

Richard asked:

The Spud Fit Challenge is too restrictive for me. I really need to lose a lot of weight, do you have any advice for me on how to lose weight without feeling so restricted?

My answer:

I have two answers actually! The first part is that weight loss is not really the point of the Spud Fit Challenge. Many people have lost a lot of weight but that’s really just a nice byproduct of the whole process. The point is to use eating only potatoes as an opportunity to “quit” all other foods for a period of time so that you can reevaluate your relationship with food and it’s place in your life. This period gives you the opportunity to look at food and cravings from a whole new perspective, so that when you do introduce other foods back into your diet, you can do it in a sustainable way that sets you up for long term success.

The second answer is – yes! I do have a less restrictive approach that you might enjoy, it’s called The Mega Foods Plan and you can read about it HERE. However it’s important to note that no matter what healthy eating plan you choose, you are going to feel restricted. The way around this is not necessarily to include a bigger variety of food because no matter how many foods you allow into your diet, there will always be more that you don’t allow.

The key here is to change your perspective. Instead of thinking about how restrictive it is to eat potatoes, think about how the food choices you’ve been making have led to you leading a life of restriction. When I was at my heaviest, my life was far more restricted than when I ate only potatoes. No diet plan is more restrictive than living every second of every day with a body and mind that don’t function the way you want them to. Not even close.

Mandy’s Mega Foods May is off to a great start! We’ve had a couple of amazing group coaching sessions already and the (free) Facebook group is buzzing! Check out our daily youtube videos HERE. There’s no video yesterday because Mandy fell asleep with the kids when she put them to bed!

Spud up!

Andrew
