The Best Kind of Self Love

For me, self love is not about staring into the mirror and learning to appreciate what I see. It’s not repeating affirmations about how special and great I am. It’s not about treating myself to anything special because “I’m worth it” or because I “deserve a reward”.

Self love is recognising where I can improve and then taking steps to change. Self love is the feeling I get when I know deep down that I’m doing what needs to be done. It’s understanding that my internal audience is a harsh but fair judge who will not accept lame excuses. My internal audience cannot be fooled.

I am worth putting in effort and taking action. The success that comes from this is its own reward which is only ever diluted by “treating” myself.

Self love is all about taking positive action.
