21 Jun The flower power mindset
I’m keeping the ball rolling with another Feel Good Friday post today. I’ve been enjoying these and have been getting some great responses so I’ll keep them coming!
It definitely seems like a huge cliché but I can still vividly remember the first time in my life that I literally stopped and smelled the flowers. It was about 6 weeks into my Spud Fit Challenge, I was walking to the shops and I noticed some flowers growing in a garden. I had walked past these same flowers many times before but this time I noticed them. I stopped and paid attention to their vibrant colour and beauty and then I knelt down, put my nose right inside one and took a deep breath. It smelled like, well, a flower!
I’d love to be able to tell you that I was overcome by the sheer beauty and my life was never the same again after spending a few moments basking in the glory of nature that surrounds us. The truth is that nothing extraordinary happened, it was normal flower, it looked lovely and smelled nice. The real beauty in that moment was in simply taking the time to notice, to get outside of my head for a few seconds and appreciate the world around me. Life is made up entirely of tiny moments, strung together.
I continue to develop my ability to pay attention, notice and appreciate the little things. Each moment can offer something new and interesting, what will you notice this weekend?
