Your comfort zone is the cause of your discomfort

I want to share with you a little bit more about what my new willSkillpower Program actually is.

Changing habits and their related, ingrained thought patterns is difficult because it’s uncomfortable. Human beings have evolved to find the easiest possible ways to obtain calories and exploit short cuts at every opportunity.

We have spent most of our evolution trying to survive.  In times of scarcity more calories with less effort improved our chances of survival. When we find a way that works, when we have concrete evidence that our ways will most likely keep us alive for the foreseeable future, then it becomes our comfort zone. We search for the minimum viable product and then we stick with it, even as those behaviours that previously helped us navigate a tough time become destructive and the comfort zone becomes uncomfortable.

In the willSkillpower Program, we take a deep dive into our comfort/discomfort zones and the survival advantages they provide. We look at both the physical and psychological nature of the comfort zones and the mental tricks and stories our subconscious uses to keep us stuck in the discomfort zone.

We look at how comfort zones contribute to self-sabotage and most importantly, how we can preempt these tricks and stories and see them for what they truly are.

This new level of awareness and preparedness allows us to approach trigger foods and situations with the confidence that comes with knowing exactly what’s going on in your mind and why, as well as how to deal with it.

Cravings and emotional eating triggers become mere blips on the radar, rather than the dominant forces that previously controlled your life.
